Ashoka South Florida

Who We Are

Ashoka finds and supports passionate people with bold ideas to change broken systems—people like Wendy Kopp of Teach for America and Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia. We call these people social entrepreneurs. Once we recognize social entrepreneurs with revolutionary ideas, we elect them to be Ashoka Fellows.

Our fellows address all issues: healthcare, human rights, poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability to name a few. We provide a range of support—from access to a global network of innovators to a working stipend—to help these entrepreneurs spread their ideas across the globe.

What We Do

While Ashoka is a global organization with a variety of programs and opportunities, the Ashoka South Florida Chapter focuses on three main objectives:

  1. Serve as an international hub of Ashoka Support Network (ASN) members—business professionals who are engaged with social entrepreneurship.
  2. Leverage and support Ashoka’s efforts in connecting the leading social entrepreneurs of the Ashoka Fellowship within the Americas and abroad, maximizing the collective impact
  3. Draw from our global network of change-makers to collaborate with the communities in South Florida around supporting social innovation and promoting change-making skills for all.
